
While the leaders of the European Union are in Tirana for the Berlin Process Summit, chef Fundim Gjipali has thought about how to create a satisfying menu for their lunch.
In a direct interview for Euronews Albania, the chef showed what preparations he had made to satisfy all the leaders and revealed what menu they will enjoy.
He said he used mostly seafood for his meals, which had traditional but modernized elements.
A detail worth mentioning was that in order to prepare this menu, Gjipali had taken care to know for each member of this dinner, whether he suffered from any food allergy or not.
"It is not easy at all, but from the experience of two decades in this craft, we have the right experience to organize dinners of this level. I have made a menu with all the Albanian products, after I analyzed all the leaders one by one in case they have allergies and something came out that I liked. They are our traditional but modernized dishes, especially seafood dishes, because we had a reception buffet and the other is a set lunch", said the chef.
As for the drinks, he said that there will be both types of wine, such as white and red. Gjipali also said that there will be different sweets.
"We have four different Albanian wineries, two white wines and two red wines. There are also yogurt and raspberry based desserts, there is yogurt mousse and an Albanian raspberry sherbet and a cookie with Zana candy which I thought was just right for the occasion. The dishes will all be the same, we thought of having a menu to satisfy everyone", he said.
When asked how long these lunches last, Gjipali answered:
"They last about 1 hour, 1 hour and 30 minutes. We will serve as we always serve in our restaurant".
When asked who was the highest level leader that Gjipali cooked for, he said that the President of America himself, Joe Biden, consumed his cooking in a restaurant in Rome.
