Robert Rakipllari, the director of News24, spoke today about the Berlin Process Summit being held in Tirana.
From the studio of the show "Open", Rakipllari said that this development from the political dimension is quite important, as it is the first time that this Summit is held outside the borders of the EU.
But on the other hand, of the effects that this Summit gives for the Western Balkans and for Albania, he sees no result. He also spoke about the statement of the President of the European Commission, Urusla von der Leyen, the day before, when he said that the EU has a check of 30 billion euros ready for the region, saying that Albania, but also the countries of the region, have been unable to present projects for absorption of these funds.
"This was the 7th time that this Summit has been held, the first time that it has been held outside the borders of Europe. The first dimension is the political one, the fact that high EU officials come, etc., this is not a little. A visit by the German Prime Minister to Italy is also an event. From this point of view, foreign policy, it is Rama's success. Perhaps it was chosen from a geopolitical point of view, the role of Rama that was not included, or was included as a conciliator between Kosovo and Serbia, which we criticized in the studio, but which interests the EU.
But from the point of view of propaganda of real effects, it does not seem so to me. The summit is a process undertaken because the EU has stopped enlargement. For this reason, Germany has undertaken an initiative in the region, in order to speed up the reforms, so that when the EU is ready to bring the Western Balkans closer, they will be aligned.
I heard yesterday at the press conference of President Von der Leyen, about a check for the region of 30 billion euros. I think that so far the effects are 0, maybe because of the inability of the countries of the region to make projects... Rama makes these meetings very nice, from the symbolic point of view, the hospitality, but when it comes to presenting projects to absorb money from EU, here we are the last in the region", said Rakipllari.
