Analyst Neritan Sejamini spoke about the Berlin Process Summit, held today in Tirana.
Invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, Sejamini said that the Berlin Process as a whole did not produce economic results and that there were no investments, as promised.
As the biggest achievement of this initiative, the analyst considers the contacts of the leaderships of the EU and the Western Balkans and the dialogue developed for years, while clarifying that the essence of the initiative called the Berlin Process is to keep the Western Balkans region in the hope that it will integrate into the EU and become part of the process, despite its delay.
"Money has not come, there has been no investment, there have been many meetings, eight meetings together with this high-level one. There have been hundreds of meetings of different levels, but economic development has not come.
In 2020, the EU promised to give around 9 billion euros to the region, part of the Berlin Process but also as an EU strategy for the Western Balkans. Nothing has been disbursed. The only money that has been given is some money for NGO applications, but from an economic point of view, there has been no impact, no investment, nothing.
From the point of view of meetings and contacts, they have definitely improved. The Western Balkans has had a dialogue with the EU and today's shows that in a Western Balkan country, to organize such a meeting, to have everyone come together, this in itself has a certain value. But the main value of this process is to keep the countries of the Western Balkans feeling as if they will go to the EU without getting closer to the EU", said Sejamini.
