Another case of damage to road infrastructure has been reported in the country, adding to concerns about the quality of work in several projects carried out in recent years.
After problems appeared on several main axes, the most recent case being the Librazhd-Prrenjas segment that blocked traffic towards the southeast of the country for several days, new reports indicate damage on another road in the Elbasan district.
This concerns the Miraka Bridge-Polis Gureshpatë segment , a road built about two years ago and which, according to data, cost approximately 2 million euros. According to media reports, a part of this road has suffered significant landslides, endangering vehicle traffic.
The segment serves to connect several villages in the Librazhd area and its damage could directly affect the movement of residents in the area.
It is reported that the problems on this road have been occurring for about two months, and so far no intervention has been made to repair it. Also, no warning signs have been placed for drivers at the site where the landslide occurred.
The damage to this road segment is seen as another case that raises questions about the quality of work in several infrastructure projects and the way the funds for their construction were managed.
We recall that the problems became more apparent after the winter rains, when several roads built or reconstructed in recent years suffered significant damage.
One of the most controversial cases was the Librazhd–Prrenjas segment, while this incident caused strong political debates and raised doubts about the quality of the works and the management of public funds.
Other cases of damage have also been reported on various road segments in several regions of the country, including areas in Elbasan, Korça and Dibër, where landslides and asphalt erosion have created problems for vehicle traffic.
Authorities have argued that the damage was caused by weather conditions and intense rainfall, while the opposition and infrastructure experts have raised accusations of poor quality of works, faulty design, and abuse of public funds.
