Journalist Arian Çani said that Albania has long been a modern colony of the USA. Çani made the comments on the show "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania, where he said that the isolation at home of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha is a gift that the USA has given to Prime Minister Edi Rama.
According to Çani, Rama and other exponents of the Socialist Party have strongly lobbied to remove Berisha and other political actors from the political scene.
" We have to see justice politically as well. Albania has been a US colony for years. Not colonies like they used to be, that came with armies and conquered. The USA is here and the people they don't want... Berisha is a gift from the Americans to Edi Rama. And not only Berisha, but there are several characters who have been strongly lobbied not to be on the political stage.
One of the gifts given to the Prime Minister of Albania by the Great Sultan (USA) is Sali Berisha. That Berisha has entered the black annals of the Americans, this is not discussed. Berisha is the black sheep for some people in Albania.
These people with their leaders at the top have lobbied against Berisha. They talked to the Gringos and told them what we are going to do with this man, that he is a murderer... When it comes to Rama sitting down with the Americans and discussing the things he has done and will do, in the end they say to him, sir, what do you want from us and he... That's why I say that Berisha is a gift, a gift" , said Çani.
