In the 46th protest, held in front of the Prime Minister's Office building, the Albanian from Frankfurt, Afërdita Bërdufi, joined the citizens and called on them to stay united and not allow political beliefs to divide them.
In her speech, Bërdufi said that leaving Albania was forced due to the lack of opportunities for a dignified and democratic life.
"After finishing high school in Elbasan, I was forced to leave Albania, because here you are not offered the opportunity to create a dignified life, a life in a democratic country," she said.
She stated that she came to Tirana together with a group of Albanians from Frankfurt to support the protest and called on citizens to maintain unity.
"For this reason, not only do I call on Prime Minister Edi Rama to resign and bear political responsibility for all that has happened in recent years, but I also want to convey my very strong support, because I am also the organizer of the awareness-raising protests being organized in Frankfurt.
We support your cause, because your cause is very just. We have come from Frankfurt as a group to support you and to achieve together to create a state of law, a democratic state, not just on paper, but truly democratic. I have only one prayer for all of you. Please, you can win this cause, because there is no one stronger than the people. But you must all come together", said the citizen.
According to her, the priority is a change of government, and then the country must guarantee a system with free political competition.
"You should all think that the first step is to abolish this dictatorial regime. The second step is to open free competitions, with fairness and transparency, for all those who want to make a political career."
There is no problem, political beliefs are different. But please, and this is the message I want to give you, come together and don't let yourselves be divided by political beliefs.
"Now the number one task is to remove this dictatorial regime. Dictatorial regimes are very difficult to remove, so come together. Then think about how to compete politically. This is very important. Otherwise you will be divided very quickly. This is a very important historical moment," she concluded.
During the protest, a statement of support from the Albanian-American Civic League (AACCL) was also read, which, according to the organizers, expresses solidarity with the protesters.
Before the statement was read, one of the protesters addressed the prime minister with the words: "Rama, get your pajamas ready, prison awaits you."
Then the message of the Albanian-American Civic League was read: "For more than 3 decades, the Albanian-American Civic League has remained steadfast in its mission to promote democracy, protect human rights, and advance Albanian interests. LQSHA stands with citizens who protect Albanian interests and against those who harm these interests. We have defended the rule of law, freedom of expression, and citizens' rights through peaceful and democratic means. LQSHA is following the patriotic and peaceful demonstrations where citizens are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Rama, demanding transparency, freedom, and democratic rights."
