Several prisoners accused of plotting to assassinate former President Nicolas Maduro have been released.
One of them is Albanian and it is Jozef Ndocin.
Through a statement from the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is announced that the Albanian Embassy in Brazil has announced that Jozef Ndoci is already at the "Red Cross" in Venezuela, awaiting permission to order to Albania.
The Albanian Embassy is also in contact with the relatives of the released Albanian citizen, who have communicated by telephone with their family member after his release.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Announcement: The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs informs the public that the Albanian citizen Mr. Jozef Ndoci, who was held prisoner in Venezuela for more than a year (October 2024 - January 2026), has been released and is now in a safe condition.
Mr. Ndoci was held in the high-security El Rodeo prison, in the state of Miranda, and his release was achieved after a process developed in recent days, within the framework of the release of a number of foreign prisoners in Venezuela. After temporary transfer to the DGCIM premises, he was released and is currently under the care of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Caracas.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Brazil, has been following the issue continuously and on several levels, in cooperation with international partners and friendly diplomatic missions, focusing on the protection of the rights and interests of Albanian citizens.
Albanian authorities have been in constant contact with Mr. Ndoci's family and will continue to provide the necessary support until his safe return to Albania.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs expresses its gratitude for the contribution of the International Committee of the Red Cross and for the cooperation of partner diplomatic missions in Caracas.
The MEPJ reaffirms its commitment to the protection of Albanian citizens wherever they are.
