Albanian Post Office

Today, two employees of the Post Office in Devoll were criminally prosecuted for allegedly stealing around 22 million new lek from the postal fund.

Regarding this event, the Albanian Post has reacted, which through an announcement on social networks removed responsibility from itself, saying that after being notified of the case, it has officially filed a criminal report with the competent justice bodies, requesting the initiation of criminal proceedings against the responsible persons.

The Albanian Post emphasized to citizens that pension funds have not been affected and their distribution continues normally, without any interruption, guaranteeing continuity of service for all beneficiaries.

We recall that Paola Shaholli, 29 years old (in charge of the Vishocica post office, Devoll) and Eda Çeliku, 27 years old (in charge of cashier-accountant, at the Devoll post office), both residents of Bilisht, are suspected of having, in collaboration with each other, during the period September 2025 - January 2026, stolen around 22 million new lek.

" The Albanian Post informs the public that, after discovering several irregularities in the administration of financial funds at the Bilisht Post Office, the Korça Branch of the Albanian Post has immediately undertaken all administrative and legal actions provided for by the legislation in force.

As a result of internal controls carried out by the relevant structures of the institution, reasonable suspicions of lack of funds and irregularities in the financial documentation have been identified. For this reason, the Albanian Post, through the Korça Branch, has officially filed a criminal complaint with the competent justice bodies, requesting the initiation of criminal proceedings against the responsible person, in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The Albanian Post assures citizens that pension funds have not been affected and their distribution continues normally, without any interruption, guaranteeing continuity of service for all beneficiaries.

The Albanian Post emphasizes that it has cooperated and will continue to fully cooperate with the investigative bodies for the full clarification of this case, making all necessary documentation and information available.

"The institution distances itself from any form of abuse of office and remains maximally committed to guaranteeing transparency, legality and protection of the public interest. Any violation found is treated with maximum seriousness and referred without delay to the competent authorities ," the Post's announcement states.
