In the last 5 years, 49 people have lost their lives on Albanian beaches. According to the State Police data, heart attack is the main cause of these fatal events.
To avoid heart attacks, cardiologists advise not to jump into the sea immediately.
"We always recommend that the introduction be gradual, never an immediate jump, wet the feet, hands, get used to the body with the temperature of the water and then do the complete immersion of the body in the water.
The elderly are the ones who mostly lost their lives at sea as a result of a heart attack, however there are also younger people, as in recent years the cases of heart disease have increased among them as well.
We have a decreasing trend in the age of patients affected by cardiovascular disease, and 35 years old we have had cases during the last months that we have found here in our center.
The presence of beach watchers and direct contact with the emergency as soon as chest tightness, fatigue or dizziness are felt, are necessary to avoid fatal events", says cardiologist Mimoza Luzati.
Gjergj Gjata, representative, Albanian Federation of Beach Watchers, said that the cases were quite frequent due to the lack of information from these people. Therefore, it should be the beach watcher to give first aid.
"Before starting the holidays, people with heart disease or hypertension are recommended to consult a cardiologist to receive the relevant medical advice and treatment," he said to "Klan TV".
