The Joint Movement of Arlind Qori will organize a protest today to protect the park behind the Opera and Ballet Theater, which has been surrounded by concrete blocks and it is expected that another giant tower will be built.
In an announcement published in the media, it is said that the protest will start at 18:00 at the park behind the Opera and Ballet Theater, which is expected to turn into a construction site for another tower in that area.
"HANDS AWAY FROM THE PARK! One of the last parks in Tirana is disappearing, the one that lies between the 9-storey buildings and the Opera and Ballet Theatre. The violence of concrete has not stopped. Corrupt rulers and unscrupulous oligarchs are leaving us without one of the last remaining green public spaces in the city. But we, the citizens of Tirana, are more powerful than their power and billions. Therefore, the TOGETHER Movement calls on all citizens to join a powerful protest tomorrow (Sunday) at 18:00 at the site of the crime against the city. Let's meet at our park!", says the announcement distributed by Lévizja Bashke.
The flower garden behind the Opera and Ballet Palace in the center of Tirana was surrounded with concrete blocks at midnight yesterday. A 185-meter tower will rise in this green space, setting a new record for the tallest building in the capital of Tirana.
The project of the Danish studio CEBRA was chosen by a jury consisting of four architects, Prime Minister Edi Rama and Mayor Veliaj in October 2022 and received the approval of the National Council of the Territory in March of this year.
