Albania and Italy finalize the agreement on pensions, only the approval in the parliament is missing

Albania and Italy have completed the technical negotiation of the agreement on pensions. About 500 thousand Albanians working in Italy will benefit, when the agreement is approved in the parliaments of the two countries.

The process for recognition of contributions started in 2014 and is now nearing completion.

The issue has remained hostage to the negotiations of both parties for many years due to the large number of Albanian immigrants living in Italy.

To come to this agreement, it took about 10 years from the Albanian government. In 2016, there were 250 thousand Albanians registered as employed in Italy and 19 thousand Italians registered in Albania.
