Over the last 24 hours, 21 fires have been reported in our country, of which 4 are still active.
These fires have been identified in the municipalities of: Elbasan, Librazhd, Prrenjas, Vlora, Finiqi, Tirana, Kavaja, Lezha, Kurbin, Shkodra, Vau i Dejës, Malesia e Madhe, Has, Devoll and Berat.
Currently, the following outbreaks remain active:
– At the waste disposal site in the municipality of Elbasan, where work continues today to completely extinguish the fire. Yesterday, work was mainly done on dumping inert materials and encapsulating the waste, while a group of experts was on site to measure air pollution.
– The fire between the village of Grazhdan, administrative unit of Livadhja, and the village of Malçan, administrative unit of Dhivër, municipality of Finiq, remains active. The situation is calm today, but under monitoring.
– Another active fire is in the village of Bulticë, Vaqarr administrative unit, Tirana municipality, in an area of bushes and brambles. Today, operational forces, with the help of the Cougar Helicopter, will continue their work to bring the fire under control.
– The fire is also active in the mountainous area between the villages of Gjinaj and Domaj, Gjinaj administrative unit, Has Municipality, in an area with pine forest. Difficult terrain and wind keep the fire active. Operational forces continue their work today.
As a result of the fires, which mainly affected areas with trees, bushes and grass, about 6 hectares of vegetation have been burned.
36 firefighting vehicles and 232 operational forces were deployed in the firefighting operations.
Also participating in yesterday's operations were the Armed Forces with 35 personnel, 4 fire engines, 4 dump trucks, 1 tracked tractor, 1 group of experts for measuring air pollution, and 1 Cougar helicopter.
Based on the forecasts of the Institute of Geosciences, a "HIGH" risk level for fires is expected today in almost all regions.
In the regions of Korça and Vlora, a "MODELAR" risk level is expected, and locally a "HIGH" risk is expected only in localized areas, specifically: Korça (Center), Vlora (North Center).
In this situation, all citizens are called upon to show maximum responsibility, the Ministry of Defense emphasizes.
"Do not light fires in open spaces, do not burn garbage and avoid any action that could cause a fire. Even the slightest carelessness can have serious consequences for the environment, property and people's lives."
