Criminology expert Ervin Karamuço, regarding the salary situation in the justice system, said that a decision by the Constitutional Court has revealed inconsistencies in the way judges' salaries have been handled.
Karamuço said that the judges have been divided into two camps: one group that is pursuing the issue through legal channels and another that is seeking a meeting with the prime minister, an action that he considered unethical by both the Judges' Association and the executive branch.
According to him, this is a problem inherited from the justice reform, which has produced three salary levels within the same court.
" There was a decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the salaries of judges. According to them, these were not referred to the directorate of ministries, but to the Presidency. While the salaries of the administration have increased, those of the Presidency have not. The judges have been divided into two groups, one is seeking it through the courts, while the other is demanding a meeting with the Prime Minister, which is unethical on the part of the Judges' Association.
But, also from Rama's side, because salaries are not being paid and it is not real. Basically, this is a problem of the justice system that has left many tails. We have three salary levels within a court and this should be regulated by the justice reform. And the member of the Supreme Court is reduced to suing the state, so that his seniority in work is recognized. Here things start from the head , "said Karamuço on ABC News.
