
Fire situation, Ministry of Defense: 23 fires registered in the last few hours, 4 remain active

In the period from 09:00 on August 17 to 09:15 on August 18, 2025, a total of 23 fires were identified in the country's territory.
Of these:
• 16 fires have been extinguished;
• 4 outbreaks are still active;
• 3 outbreaks are under monitoring.
Completely extinguished fires:
The fires in Gramsh (Dushkut Tekeja, Mali i Kushovës), Vlorë (near the aircraft hangars), Skrapar (Osnat), Përmet, Durrës (Gjuricaj and Shënavlash), Krujë (Virjon and near the Cement Factory), Memaliaj, Shkodër (Prekal and Mali Kolaj), Patos, Delvinë, Elbasan (Shushicë).
Active and monitored outbreaks:
o Bulqizë Municipality, Tërnova village: two fires with developments in the Black Lake area and in Valikardhe, where the intervention of firefighting, forestry and municipal forces continues.
o Bulqizë Municipality, Val village: hotspot with little development, currently under monitoring by the administrative unit and residents.
o Fushë Arrëz Municipality, Xeth, Kolumri and Trun villages: several fires out of control, with rugged and difficult terrain. Local structures and 50 Armed Forces forces with a firefighting vehicle are engaged in the field.
o Damjan-Fortuzaj (Vaqarr) and Pezë Helmës villages: fires have been minimized, but are being kept under surveillance.
o Ibë village, Bërzhitë unit: hearth in difficult terrain, without risk to homes, under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and Fire Protection.
o Municipality of Kolonjë, Gërmenj Natural Park: the fire continues to spread towards the border, with the involvement of firefighting, forestry, AdZM, the municipality and 30 soldiers from the Drenova military unit. (Active)
o Delvinë Municipality, Rëzoma Park, near the Skërfica tunnel: a hotbed under the supervision of local civil protection structures.
The National Civil Protection Agency, in cooperation with the Armed Forces, fire services, local structures and residents of the affected areas, is continuing work to completely neutralize the remaining hotspots and protect communities.
