Delvina Gas has come to the attention of the media and public opinion after a large-scale operation by the Inspectorate of Territory Protection (IKMT) and the State Police, which has uncovered illegal activities at this gas field. This operation occurred as a result of denunciations by citizens for serious violations of the law, including the construction and use of land and facilities without permission.
But, after this operation, a media farce has begun, where some well-known journalists, who protect the interests of businesses built with the money of corrupt politicians, have appeared as defenders of illegal profits. They continue to lead media campaigns and use techniques to silence those who might denounce corruption and violations of the law.
One of the main actors in this scandal is Sokol Meqemeja, otherwise known as "Koli i Salcicave". He has benefited from this resource since 2016, after he obtained the rights to a hydrocarbon agreement held by the company Transatlantic Albania.
According to reliable sources, Meqemeja received assurances from energy executives at the time to protect him from any activity that might be questionable. However, the situation has changed and those who gave these guarantees are now no longer in a strong position to protect him from illegal actions.
Meqemeja has built a Thermal Power Plant (TPP) within the hydrocarbon contract territory, but its efforts to deny its existence have raised strong doubts. It has declared that there is only a gas purification plant in that territory, but this statement is contrary to the facts. The TPP is a unit that produces electricity through the combustion of gas, for which Meqemeja does not have a permit and which was built without authorization.
Furthermore, photos of Sokol Meqeme's "invisible TEC" have been made public and are expected to be an important part of future investigations. According to information, Meqeme will experience this scandal in the form of an arrest in the coming days.
Another worrying aspect is Sokol Meqeme's connections with prominent political figures. Meqeme has registered a house in his wife's name and used his connections to cover up the construction of the illegal TEC. This is another manifestation of how corruption and illegal connections are used to protect individuals and their interests, undermining trust in state institutions and justice.
In this scenario, prosecutor Altin Dumani and SPAK are expected to have an important role in investigating this matter and ensuring that justice prevails over the corruption and illegality that is occurring in the energy and construction sectors.
