Expert Ilir Aliaj has stated that Albania must make a lot of progress in various fields in order to join the European Union.
Aliaj made the comments on 'Ditari i Pasdites' on A2 CNN, where he said that the EU is not opening the chapter on agriculture with Albania, due to the scandal with IPARD funds.
According to Aliaj, the EU demands the punishment of those responsible for this scandal and the return of 33 million euros, which were allegedly abused by the government.
" One of the most important chapters, the EU spends about 28% of its budget on agricultural subsidies. It has not been opened. Why has it not been opened? It has been left in the last group of chapters. Why? For what we did with IPARD funds.
They are demanding punishment and the return of the money. We must return the damage of 33 million euros. Why did they leave it at the end? Because agriculture is one of the main chapters.
"They could have opened it last December when they first opened. Why? Because Brussels is very sensitive to agriculture. So these 33 million euros should be returned and the people responsible should be punished ," Aliaj said, among other things.
