Wisdom College, against which the Ministry of Education has initiated closure procedures due to the scandal with forged diplomas, is under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana.
The investigations against the "Wisdom" college started in July of this year after the rector Bajram Hysaj was reported for forging his signature in several cases.
So after the scandal with fake diplomas, the prosecutor's office of Tirana is expected to expand the investigations and have closer cooperation with the Italian authorities.
Savino Cianci and Leonardo Catalano are suspected of being involved in a fraud scheme with the issuance of false certificates and diplomas.
The Italian authorities have proven that this institution of higher education in our country issued these documents to Italian citizens who intended to enter the administration in exchange for 8 thousand euros.
"WISDOM" University College in Tirana, according to the NRC documents, was founded in 1996 with 100% Albanian ownership, but since 2021, its administrator is the Italian Savino Cianci. In order to "guarantee the activation and favorable conclusion of the institution's accreditation procedure", the Italian prosecution suspects that two of the arrested have bribed an official of the Albanian administration.
The scheme was discovered after an Italian student filed a complaint with the Trani Prosecutor's Office in Bari, while the Italian police arrested nine people for corruption and money laundering. About 300 people have been defrauded by the diploma sale scandal, while the income gained from this illegal activity is estimated at 10 million euros.
