Analysts Andi Bushati and Neritan Sejamini debated the developments in DP, after the measure of house arrest for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
In an interview for the show "The Unexposed", Bushati said that this issue is opening the democratic debate in the party that has never been democratic, unlike Rama's SP.
While for the analyst Sejamini PD still has not solved the dilemma of the leader and the personal fate of the leader is the fate of the party.
Excerpts from the studio debate:
Andi Bushati : The opposition, thanks to Edi Rama, the American embassy and SPAK, is in the most miserable state than any opposition in 30 years in Albania. But with all this misery, if I saw the chronicles of the PD parliamentary group meeting, there were people who, in their misery, debated whether Berisha is replaceable or not to advance the opposition action. I saw something that I had forgotten since the SP of 1992-1996, where a political forum in Albania due to the fact that SPAK, Edi Rama, the Americans dealt with the powerful dominance of Berisha, the sprouts of a democratic debate. So here is the fact that they wanted to annihilate the opposition, they are democratizing it internally. Imagine that the debate that took place yesterday in DP takes place today in SP. A democratic debate is taking place within a party that has been anti-democratic for 30 years. SPAK and the Americans are reviving pluralism in an autocratic country.
Neritan Sejamini : The challenge of the DP is that of the Albanian parties. PD is in this challenge, how equal is it with Berisha and how Berisha is PD. Does the DP have more than Mr. Berisha, against his will, against his destiny. Today the main issue of DP is that of Mr. Berisha. While the DP has the elections ahead.
Andi Bushati: No.
Neritan Sejamini : Today you don't have a figure to challenge Mr. Berisha, to come out, ask for the resignation of Mr. Berisha. Some of those who spoke today were opponents of Mr. Berisha and insulted him.
Andi Bushati : Yes, this is the value. Yesterday, a debate took place in DP whether we should defend Berisha in the resolution of the European Parliament, while half of the group says that we do not deal with personal issues.
Neritan Sejamini : Yes, because they have not become PD, they have not yet accepted Mr. Berisha.
Andi Bushati : Meanwhile, we have a party that Elisa Spiropali appeared in Congress and said that Albania is being filled with tourists because our supreme leader broke the nose of the Russian ambassador in the Security Council.
Neritan Sejamini : Yes, you have set a very low standard to compare it to, you are saying that we should compare it with the last ending. DP still has not solved the dilemma of the leader and the personal fate of the leader is the fate of the party.
Andi Bushati : You compare the PD with the aspirations you have for democracy as Neritan. After 33 years from '90, which has been autocratic, to use it as a mirror to bring out the worst of the former communist party or Rilindah, is a great misery for Albania. The fact that Berisha's party is more democratic than Rama's shows us the state in which we have degraded, but it is more democratic than Edi Rama's fascist party. We have reached this point and this is the tragedy.
Neritan Sejamini : The Socialist Party is a personalist party, the person is the party.
Andi Bushati : During Nano's time, it was the most open party in Albania.
