The EU Ambassador in Tirana assured Dumani that SPAK is not alone and that they will support the fight against organized crime and corruption.  

SPAK head Altin Dumani has paid a two-day visit to Brussels.

Dumani met with the top leaders of European institutions responsible for enlargement, justice and the fight against fraud.

The meeting agenda included:

-Gert Jan Koopman, Director General of DG NEAR

-Salla Saastamoinen, Acting Director-General of OLAF

-Irena Moozová, Deputy Director-General of DG JUST

-Marko Makovec, Head of Cabinet of Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos

-Alexander Winterstein, Head of Cabinet of Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner

The EU Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, assured Dumani that SPAK is not alone and that they will support the fight against organized crime and corruption.  

The EU has been and will remain a strong supporter of SPAK in the fight against organised crime, high-level corruption and fraud, as well as in the protection of the EU’s financial interests. Maintaining SPAK’s solid track record under its new leadership in 2026 and beyond will be key to continuing Albania’s progress towards EU membership. This is important for the security of Albania and the EU and for strengthening the rule of law. SPAK cannot do this alone. Other Albanian institutions must also do their part” , said Ambassador Gonzato.

Very good two-day visit to Brussels by the Special Chief Prosecutor of Albania, Altin Dumani, who met with senior EU officials: Gert Jan Koopman, Director General of DG NEAR; Salla Saastamoinen, Acting Director General of OLAF; Irena Moozová, Deputy Director General of DG JUST; Marko Makovec, Head of Cabinet of Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and Alexander Winterstein, Head of Cabinet of Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner.

The visit testifies to SPAK's achievements in the fight against corruption and organized crime. All interlocutors praised SPAK's strength, stability and credibility, as well as its close cooperation with EU agencies, member states and other international partners.
