Vangjush Dako

The hearing for the former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, is postponed. The reason for the postponement was the lack of lawyers, while it has been decided that the next session will be held on November 25.

During the session scheduled for today, it was expected to hear the defendant's defense and also to take the final decision from the GJKKO.

SPAK, in the claim presented to the court, demands a 4-year prison sentence for the former mayor.

Because of the summary trial, if convicted, Dako will have 1/3 of his sentence reduced, down to 2.8 years.

Currently, the former mayor is under "house arrest" and is accused of abuse of office in two cases: with the granting of a construction permit for a building in 2014 and for abuse of office in the tender for the supervision of the promenade for the coastline. worth about 200 thousand euros.

Vangjush Dako was arrested in June 2023 after he was assigned "prison arrest" but after 8 months, in February 2024, the GJKKO decided to change the security measure to "house arrest" due to the expiration of the deadlines. In July of this year, the Special Court accepted the request of the former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, for a summary trial.
