The Special Prosecutor's Office against Organized Crime and Corruption issued this Tuesday the claim for the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri.
SPAK asked for a sentence of 2 years and 6 months for Beler, while for Pandeli Kokaveshi, a sentence of 2 years of imprisonment was requested, which can be converted to 4 years of probation.
Without giving the claim, Beler's lawyer reacted, calling the case a very poorly constructed fable and that the decision is illegal. According to him, the accusations against Beler are shameful.
" They did not bring any evidence except the testimony of Arsen Rama. It is a very poorly constructed fable. Even those of 46 built the fable better. It is a shameful accusation, an expected decision" , said the lawyer.
We remind you that Fredi Beleri was arrested in the premises of a bar in Himare, just 2 days before the local elections of May 14, 2023, after he was caught red-handed with his associate Pandeli Kokaveshi buying votes.
For a long time, this issue has become the main topic of discussion in the relations between Greece and Albania. It was Greece that threatened our country, which is seeking EU entry, as it declared that Albania will face consequences if the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, continues to be prevented from taking office.
