The Italian government is looking for chartered ships to transport refugees to Shengjin. The cost is about 13.5 million euros...
The Italian media continues to reveal facts about the affair with the refugees. Edi Rama trumpets it as a great honor, but for the local media, a boat rented for 90 days, which will transport refugees from the Italian shores to us, will cost 13.5 million euros.
"Tg Com 24" writes that this figure was extracted within the framework of an offer put on the market by the Ministry of the Interior, which requires vessels for rent. According to the "tender" document, a ship will have 100 staff members, and will carry 200 immigrants on board.
The migrant gathering point is seen about 15/20 nautical miles south-south/west of the island of Lampedusa. There is talk of a transport of "about 300 units" (200 immigrants and 100 operators), and "three to four trips per month (round trip)".
The duration of each operation is thought to be 5-6 days, including "the transport of migrants, the operation of the center, the transport to Albania, the landing activities and the return to the operation area". The ships themselves should have 100 crew members.
The conditions set for the ships are: capacity to carry approximately 300 passengers, 200 migrants plus 100 operators; minimum 50 cabins, each with a maximum of two beds; a draft (the height of the part of the hull that remains submerged) less than 5 meters, "suitable for anchoring in the port of Shengjin"; a room for examining immigrants; one to be used as a security room for judicial police needs; a nursing room and possible quarantine area.
"The ship management service will be the responsibility of the operator with all obligations", the document specifies. In addition, the execution of the service includes the supply of goods and food products, as well as the preparation of various meals.
If the average of 300 units for the days of the duration of the contract is exceeded, an "additional cost per person of 40 euros/day for the number of excess passengers" will be recognized. Given the unpredictability of migratory flows and, consequently, the impossibility of quantifying the exact number of necessary passages, it is stated in the last chapter of the document, if the sailing distance for the duration of the contract will be less than 6 thousand miles of maritime activities , the rental cost will be reduced by 15%. / Pamphlet
