The government has decided to re-index pensions for the elderly, making a mockery of them.
From next month, pensioners in the city will receive an average of 1,500 ALL more, while those in the countryside will receive less than 900 ALL. From the current 17,350 ALL, what an elderly person living in the city receives every month will become 18,842 ALL.
Almost 1 thousand 400 ALL more will be received by the beneficiaries of the disability pension in urban areas, while those who are treated with family pension will benefit about 700 ALL more.
From October 1st, disability pension beneficiaries who live in the village will receive 712 ALL more, while those who are treated with family pension will benefit about 190 ALL more.
"I don't even get an increase of 6,000 lek. Prices skyrocket and pensions increase so little. We are in great difficulties", said a pensioner.
