In the next 10 years, our country aims to modernize the armed forces to respond to new security challenges. According to the recently published Military Strategy, the main focus will be on the modernization of defense systems against drones, air defense with short-range systems and medium-range defense systems.
The project even envisages the development of long-range missile launch platforms. Albania will continue to provide multi-use helicopters, either in civil defense or for military operations. The innovation in this case is the provision to buy fighter jets. After the removal from use of "MIG" aircraft and other models before 1990, this is the first time that the Albanian army aims to supplement, this and after the provision of drones and helicopters from partner countries.
Naval defense will also be augmented with a mid-range ship and a warship. Ground defense is expected to have armored vehicles available, whether in battle or on the move. Light weapons will continue to be provided to the battalions in Albania. Also, even after the request of Ukraine and the decision for the NATO alliance as a priority, the country will increase the production of light weapons and ammunition. / A2 CNN
