Former prosecutor Arjan Ndoja has given his testimony in court regarding the assassination attempt that occurred in 2019 in Durrës, where Andi Maloku was killed.
During his testimony, Ndoja described the dynamics of the incident, emphasizing that he had not noticed any suspicious movement before the attack. He said that on November 1, 2019, he had started the day normally, first at work with Maloku and then for lunch at a bar in Durrës, where Aleksandër Laho was also present.
According to him, after a few hours of staying, they left by vehicle towards the Dajlan Bridge area. The vehicle was driven by Andi Maloku, as Ndoja was not feeling well, while Laho was in the back seat.
"When we passed the area near the highway entrance, the explosions started. At first I didn't realize they were gunshots. They weren't bursts, but separate ones. It seemed like they were two different weapons," he said.
Ndoja said the attack lasted about 20 seconds and caused the vehicle to go off the road, ending up in a ditch after crashing into the barriers. He said Maloku, although seriously injured, managed to call his father and say: "They've killed us."
According to the testimony, Maloku collapsed as soon as he opened the car door, due to severe injuries to his spine. Ndoja himself stated that he lost consciousness and does not remember what happened next.
The former prosecutor stressed that he has no knowledge of the perpetrators of the assassination and that he does not know the defendants in the trial, including Plaurent Dervish, whom he said he only knows by name from a previous case.
He added that he had not received any threats or contact after the incident and that, if he had had any suspicions, he would not have moved freely. He also mentioned that after the assassination he had heard information linking the incident to Plaurent Dervish, but stressed that he did not have concrete evidence and that he had requested that any suspicions be verified.
Testimony of former prosecutor Ndoja:
"During 2019, I was a prosecutor in Durrës. During 2019, I did not have any conflict with anyone. I had a vehicle that was in my wife's name. It was in the use of citizen Andi Maloku for about a month. On 01.11.2019, I left the house as usual at around 07:00. I was accompanied by Andi Maloku, I went to work at around 12:30. I left work and went to the "Koral" bar. I was invited for lunch.
It was me, Pëllumb Muharremi, also known as Aleksandër Laho, Enver Shala and Enver's friend. We stayed until 4:00 p.m. Then we moved from there. We went towards the Dajlan Bridge. Andi Maloku was the driver of the vehicle. Pëllumb Muharremi was behind, I was sitting in front. He had his vehicle behind. The car in front was mine. We followed the normal road, we entered the highway towards the Dajlan Bridge. When they stopped at the gas station, after it until the Shkozet overpass, gunshots began. The shots came from the right side of the vehicle. The vehicle was in the lane next to the fast lane, we were going 60-70 km per hour. When the first shots started, I didn't realize that they were gunshots. There were two guns because they had different noises and the time interval was different.
It happened in about 20 seconds, until the vehicle left the road. I didn't see where the blows came from. When Andi Maloku was injured, he swerved the wheel and we crashed into one of the traffic dividers. Andi Maloku was conscious, I was dazed due to the wound. When I got out of the vehicle, I fell unconscious. Andi Maloku died on November 7, 6 days after the assassination. After the assassination, I did not learn where the shots came from. I contacted the victim's family. They also all came back as a family. With Aleksandër Laho "Rrumi i Shijakut", he was in intensive care for many days. Back when we discussed it and he had not managed to see anything. Apart from you as the prosecution body, no one has come to meet us and say that this is why it happened. I do not know any of the defendants.
I only know the main one by chance, Plaurent Dervishaj. My family and I have a house in Shëngjin and we used to spend our holidays there. In Durrës I used to go to “Korali” and a bar owned by Enver Shala. Before the incident I didn’t notice anything suspicious. After the incident I read that they had come and followed us. I didn’t notice any signs. I wasn’t impressed by any vehicle, I had no doubts or concerns. I recognized Redjan Rraja and Arjol Halilaj by face. No one brought me any orders.
I have frequented the Lalzi Bay area, but not a specific place that I have a specific point of view on. I have no property interests in Lalzi Bay. I know Vullnet Muca, Pëllumb Muharremi's brother. Apart from that day when the assassination took place, Aleksandër Laho has never gotten into my car. I told Julian Meçaj's father, take your son and get him out of Albania until things are clarified. I am calm to this day because I do not owe anyone anything," Ndoja said before the court.
