The head of the Albanian Anti-Corruption Commission, Gentian Gjyli, is summoned

It is thought that Gjyli will testify about the procedures followed in road tenders, during the time he was No. 2 of the ARA.

The Director of the Albanian Anti-Corruption Agency, Gentian Gjyli, appeared at the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPAK) this Tuesday morning.

There is still no official information on the reasons for his appearance at SPAK, but it is thought that Gjyli will testify about the procedures followed in road tenders, during the time he was No. 2 of the ARA.

We recall that Gentian Gjylin was appointed director of the ARRSH, a week after the arrest of the former director, Evis Berberi, by SPAK. Gjylin was an internal appointment within the ranks of the ARRSH. Previously, he held the position of head of the projects sector and most recently that of deputy general director of the ARRSH.

It is worth noting that for a year now, the former head of the Albanian Road Authority, Evis Berberi, has been arrested by court order, following a request from the Special Prosecution Office on charges of corruption and money laundering.

The investigation revealed that Berberi is involved in 6 tenders that SPAK claims were awarded abusively, 3 when he was director of Energy Efficiency and 3 as director of ARRSH. The total value of the tenders is around 2.2 million euros.

In addition to Berberi, Valter Begaj and Ervis Lami, administrators of the DAAM company who are suspected of having abusively benefited from tenders, were also arrested.
