Tourist businesses in Saranda complain about fewer visitors this year.
Restaurant managers in the coastal city say there is a drop in clientele of at least 20% compared to a year ago.
Armando Magllara, tourist operator, claims that there will be tourists themselves who are younger in age, and tend to spend more in supermarkets and bars.
"If we compare with last year, there is a slight decrease, not much, I would say about 20%. There is a change in the structure of tourism, vacationers who came this year are more vacationers who choose supermarkets, there are people who choose bars, they also consume restaurants, but somewhat less", says the tourist operator.
Even young tourists themselves are more enthusiastic about night clubs, avoiding frequenting restaurants every day.
"I'm Frida, 22 years old from Sweden, we came from Corfu, we're going to go home to get ready and then we're going to go to some bars because they look very fun. Yes, we tried to go to a restaurant yesterday, it was very good, the food, the service, the stuffed peppers remain my favorite food from Albania", says a tourist.
For young people with more reduced budgets, restaurants are not the first choice, while in the coastal city restaurants are eyed by Italian vacationers. The latter spend money to consume good meals, and in August it has become a tradition to dominate the Italian tourist.
"Low cost" tourists have dominated the months of June and July in Saranda, putting the tourism industry in position, which is hoping for Italian vacationers at last year's levels./ Euronews Albania
