Left "Nisma Thurje", Loku criticizes Shabani: The mandate should go to
Rigerta Loku

Rigerta Loku Tushaj, a member of the Mirdita municipal council, announced her departure from Nisma Thurje after the public clash between the leaders of the Nisma Shqipëria coalition for the sole mandate it won on May 11. In an interview, Loku said she was disappointed, adding that this clash took the two new parties far behind and far from the ideal it had created in the public.

She reiterated that she will continue to be on the Mirdita Municipal Council as an independent member, while she sees leaving the party as the right way to react against the decisions made by Endri Shabani.

"I am disappointed and upset about this decision that I had to make, and unexpectedly, but it came as a result of an unfair process for the allocation of the sole mandate from the "Albania Initiative" coalition. My big flaw is that I do not see parties as being linked to individuals, but individuals are linked to the party, so I have to take a step back. The electoral system holds us hostage who are not part of the party in any way, even from a physical distance, since to compete in parliamentary or local elections, you have to be part of a party. I have been a fan of new parties, so that young people can take control of politics, but when young people behave in an old way, I have to distance myself. When the car I am in moves away from that objective, I have no choice but to get off," Loku said for "Report TV".

She says that the mandate that Kleana Xhuveli received is undeserved and that, in her opinion, it should have gone to a person on the open lists. Asked if it should have been given to Adriatik Lapaj, as the most voted candidate, Loku said that she was more in agreement that it should have gone to him than to someone who was not included in the list to run, but only fictitiously. Then, she added, Lapaj would show whether he would really keep his word that if they only received one mandate on May 11, he would not go to parliament.

"Throughout this history, our battle has been for the open lists. For me, the mandate that was taken from the lady on the closed list is not hers, undeserved. The mandate should go to the open list, it is enough for anyone to go to the open list, it is enough for us to agree. I was more in agreement that it should go to Adriatik than to a person who has not competed for a single day. Adriatik would then show whether he would keep his word to the electorate ," said Loku.

He also expresses criticism of Shabani's behavior, adding that we should go beyond threats for the common good.

"This process was a huge pyramid that no one guaranteed for anyone. I understand the threats that Shabani received, but politics has these. We must go beyond personal threats to see a common good. The open lists were not a pact between Endri and Adriatik, but a philosophy that would change the political approach and new mindset. This failed for a status written on FB and a quick response that was equally negative for this mission ," she said.

Asked if she would agree to become part of what Albania is, she stated firmly that this possibility does not exist.

"No, at the moment we are talking, I am not even discussing it. I will continue my mission as a municipal councilor, I will be non-partisan and free. I do not feel and do not see it as a possible alternative. With this behavior that we have done, we have undermined the trust of Albanians, we have deepened the dilemma towards the new forces. We have gone backwards and I do not feel like being part of this at the moment," she concluded.
