Fatjon Baci, the prison guard whose phone Erion Veliaj used, spoke in detail before special prosecutors about the conversations that the mayor of Tirana had while he was being transported from the Durrës detention center to the premises of the special Court of Appeals.
In his testimony, the prison police officer stated that he made the phone available to Veliaj because he was afraid of the power he had.
Baci said that in one of the conversations he heard him talking about a plan to become an MP and in this way he could escape from prison. Here the mayor also mentioned his colleagues as
"I don't remember exactly who, because I'm also in charge, but Erioni told his wife or brother: "Sacrifice one of the students for MP, as if they were sick or not feeling well due to their health condition, and to introduce Erioni as a candidate for MP, so that he could escape prison". He said this as Plan B, the only plan to escape. I remember him telling me that several other mayors, such as Tërmet Peci or someone with the surname Malaj, are also becoming MPs to escape SPAK. Likewise, Erioni, during the conversation with his wife or brother, said that Ulsi was brought out by that MP from Paskuqan or Lapraka, but he didn't know that he sided with SPAK, Erioni told him that he knew Ulsii and that he had a friend.
