At a time when many health centers or hospitals in the country complain that they do not have doctors, in Tepelena, the doctors of the municipal hospital are asking not to close their hospital, referring to the order of the Ministry of Health, which from January 1 of the following year turns the hospital into a health center.
This order is also opposed by the citizens of Tepelena and especially by the third age, who are impossible for the services they require to travel to the Gjirokastra hospital.
While some elderly compare the removal of the hospital with the continuity of life in the city of Tepelena. On the other hand, even the regional hospital of Gjirokastra, which claims to receive visits from citizens from Tepelena, is at its limits in terms of specialist doctors.
In this hospital, two of the specialties are vacant, while the others have only one doctor, which makes it impossible to serve such a high number of residents.
Residents of Memaliaj, Tepelena, Përmet and Këlcyra are expected to receive services at the regional hospital of Gjirokastra./A2
