Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu stated that the law on the reference price is illegal and disproportionate. In an interview for the show "Now" on "EuronewsAlbania", Spahiu said that in no EU country is the house that is in use taxed at 15 percent with the reference price, that it is not taxed on the profit.
" The profit is taxed at the reference price of the objects that were bought for businesses, when you have a second house or a shop that you rent out and then sell it, then the 15 percent tax can work. If you sell your house out of trouble, you are not taxed. What is for profit effect, it is taxed. There is no more discriminatory tax than adding property tax to your electricity bill. In the law that will come into effect in 2026, oligarchs who have 5-star hotels are exempt from property tax, and cow stables and millers are taxed ," said Spahiu.
