Vehicle circulation on the Librazhd-Qafë Thane national axis continues to be difficult today in the problematic area of Dragostunje's Curves. Currently, only one and a half lanes of the road are open, while a giant stone is still on the asphalt, posing a real danger to drivers.

What is most striking, a day after the serious incident, is the lack of authorities on the ground. There are no warning signs, nor employees advising drivers to reduce speed in a segment that remains extremely dangerous.

For more than 7-8 hours yesterday, heavy vehicles worked non-stop to demolish the damaged escarpment and clear the road, the situation has not been fully normalized. In the blocked lane, heavy vehicles are unable to pass each other, creating tension and increased risk of accidents.

Among the people who directly faced the danger is local resident Safet Duka, who miraculously escaped the massive rock that broke away from the mountain, at a moment that could have taken the lives of him and his mother.

The Duke indicates that his vehicle was damaged by the first stones that fell on the road and is seeking compensation from the company that maintains the road, as well as urgent measures from the authorities to restore safety for road users.

Meanwhile, yesterday, the head of the Albanian Road Authority, Ami Kozeli, denied that the collapse of the massif was caused by the works for the expansion of Corridor VIII. However, the fact remains that vehicles and active works for the new road route are seen very close to the damaged segment, which has increased doubts and debates about their impact on the stability of the terrain.

The situation has also raised environmental concerns. Environmentalists denounce the dumping of inert waste into the Shkumbin River, warning of serious consequences for the ecosystem and demanding immediate intervention by responsible institutions.

On one of the most important national axes, connecting the southeast with the rest of the country, the danger has not yet passed. Drivers move between fear and uncertainty, while expectations for concrete measures and state presence on the ground still remain unanswered./ Balkanweb
