Murder of judge, Elvis Shkambi's uncle bursts into tears at the Appeals

The trial for the request for a security measure against Gjon Shkambi, who was remanded in prison by the Court of Appeal, was held today.

It is learned that during the closed-door session, the uncle of Elvis Shkambi, the perpetrator of the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja, burst into tears.

"I regret what happened, if I had known I would have prevented it," said the suspect, who had previously opposed the measure by appealing in the second instance.

He is suspected of attempted murder, as his nephew Elvisi, after shooting judge Astrit Kalaja, leaving him lifeless on the podium where he gave the final decision, also shot Ragip and Ervis Kurti, who were injured.

The prosecutor estimates that Gjon Shkambi did not react and did not take any action, and he says this based on the security cameras installed in the courtroom where the crime occurred on October 6, 2025.

On the other hand, the measure for Banush Koxhaj, which his lawyer spoke about, was also considered. The defense requested the release of the court employee who is suspected of abusing his duty by not performing the proper check with a detector.

"My client is sick," added the lawyer, who indicated that Koxhaj had been a dedicated but untrained employee and this was not his responsibility.
