Journalist Andi Tela said that the murder of Liridona Ademaj was followed by a very high media interest in Albania and Albanian journalism "infected" that of Kosovo as well.
According to Tela, for the first time the Kosovo media started publishing details of the investigation file, a normal practice in Tirana, but not at all normal in other countries.
"Years ago when there were many newspapers in the Albanian market, there are still many newspapers in the Kosovo market, they followed the German and Nordic model and closed the newspapers at 5:00 p.m. and dealt with political and national topics, while in Albania the newspapers closed at 12 o'clock or 1 at night and they had the latest news with injuries in Laç, or murders, according to the Italian model, and according to this model, journalists are trained to follow it down to the smallest details, to the banalities. The addition of newspapers, portals and television, field journalists dealing with breaking news put them in competition to find something more, but it turned into a hyena hunt. You could see a bunch of microphones put on the parent of the victim, or the killer, and ask for the reaction after a serious event.
In the last case, the journalism of Tirana also infected that of Kosovo. I was talking to colleagues from Kosovo and they said that it is the first time that we deal with this event in such detail.
