The lawyer for the perpetrator of the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja has provided details about the serious event that shocked the country.
Kujtim Ibra said that they have family connections with the 30-year-old, so they decided to take the matter into their own hands.
Among other things, the lawyer stated that they have requested that Elvis Shkambi undergo a forensic examination for his mental health.
" As a result of family acquaintance, I took the case. We are requesting a forensic medical examination of Shkambi for his mental health. He showed remorse, apologized to the judge and to the two injured ," the lawyer said on "Breaking."
The serious incident of the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja and the injury of two others inside the courtroom occurred on October 6, 2025 at around 3:30 p.m.
The Shkambi clan was in a property conflict with 31 families residing in the building of the former Reserve and Dormitory School in the "Skanderbeg" neighborhood in Shkodra.
The parties have been in legal proceedings for years, as the Shkambi tribe claims ownership of the building, while the families living there say the other party has false documents.
