The Special Court has accepted the request of the lawyers of Erzen Breçan, appointing a medical-legal expert to determine the health condition of the former deputy director of the Tirana police.
The court gave time until March 12 to assess Breçan's condition.
According to the defense lawyers, due to his phobia of closed spaces, he has developed heart problems and staying in the cell could even endanger his life.
For this, they request a lighter measure of security than that of arrest in prison. Erzen Breçani was arrested last November on charges of money laundering and supporting the perpetrator of the crime.
We recall that the Special Court of Appeal in January of this year upheld the decision of the First Instance regarding the security measure against Erzen Breçan, Dedan Gjon, Besmir Murat and Bujar Ajeti, who remain in prison, who functioned as a structured group criminal for drug trafficking, money laundering.
Breakdowns of communications in "Sky" linked 11 people between the crime police and former high-ranking officials in drug trafficking, money laundering and organized crime groups. But none of the members was an unknown name. Both could not be arrested, while Erzen Breçani was arrested on the charge of supporting the perpetrator of the crime and money laundering.
