The dismantling of Gëzim Çelaj's group, considered the "drug baron", has its origins as early as April 2023, where Armando Papa was captured in the area near Rinas airport.
The arrest of the latter was carried out by the operational structures of the State Police, while the police found a quantity of 42 kg of heroin in his luggage.
Armando Papa is believed to be the courier of Gëzim Çelaj from Fushë-Kuqa and Arben Dalipi from the Vlora area, both of whom are now wanted by SPAK.
As he appeared before the judges of Tirana to get acquainted with the "prison arrest" security measure, the Pope claimed that he had no knowledge of the narcotic substance and that someone else must have placed it in the car.
The 31-year-old also claimed that he was heading towards Rinas, to send a message to his sister.
The market value of heroin is estimated at half a million euros. But the investigations of this case have been followed by the prosecution of Posaccme SPAK, which discovered that Gëzim Çelaj and Arben Dalipaj from Vlonji were involved in this line of drug trafficking.
In August 2023, SPAK and the police intervened during an operation at sea, preventing a case of heroin, cocaine and hashish trafficking to Italy.
During the "Flame at Sea" operation, the former Tropoja crime boss, Arlind Ismailukaj, Armando Mema, Nerim Çela, Gëzim Ccelë's nephew, Besnik Brokeri, and two Ukrainians, Kyrylo Ponomarenko, Kostiantyn Biellon, were arrested.
While Arben Dalipaj with the nickname "Kapelja" and Gëzim Ccela were declared wanted.
Meanwhile, yesterday in a public appearance before the media, the director of the State Police, Muhamet Rrumbullaku, announced that the police had renewed the search for Gëzim Çela and Arben Dalipaj, while the head of the Kurbini police station, Dritan Meta, had been arrested as a person who had taken part of this criminal group.
