Analyst Frrok Çupi commented on the meeting between Prime Minister Edi Rama, candidate for Mayor of Tirana Ogerta Manastirliu, and the deputy mayors.
According to Çupi, Rama now considers Manastirliu as the de facto mayor of the Municipality, emphasizing the need for her to immediately begin work after a seven-month vacuum in Tirana's leadership.
He criticized the decline in care for the city and pointed out the contrast between the government's commitment and the state of the opposition, which, according to him, is in a deep crisis of representation and mutual trust.
Çupi added that the Democratic Party fails to offer candidates for either Tirana or other municipalities, while accusing its leader, Sali Berisha, of inciting internal divisions through exclusionary rhetoric.
"Rama considers Manastirliu as the mayor and she should take the job. Tirana has been without a mayor for 7 months and has started to gather dust. People's care for the city has decreased and this is the reason why Rama wants Ogerta to take the job. The government started work during the summer. As for the opposition, we are in situations where the DP is finally running out of steam. Today, it is not able to present a candidate not only in Tirana, but also in other municipalities. The DP's representation among the people is fading. Everyone stays in that political group, without trusting each other. Anyone who enters the race is embarrassed. Those who have occupied a parliamentary seat do not let go because they know they will lose. This is reasonable, but it is not a political reason. They do not represent either the opposition or the people, only their interests. Berisha wants to throw those who do not want into the fire", Çupi told "Abc News".
