A huge fire engulfed the hills of Peshtan in Fier at noon today. The flames have spread rapidly, favored by strong winds, engulfing a considerable area of dense vegetation in the forest of pines and olive groves.
According to the head of the fire service in the municipality of Fier, Zija Hyka, three fire engines immediately went to the scene and are working in full force to make it possible to neutralize the flames.
Hyka adds that today's fire is thought to have been reactivated since a fire broke out in the same place yesterday, which was extinguished after the immediate intervention of the fire services. Today's fire is located near the hills of Likovun, where the television and mobile phone antennas are located.
Vehicle intervention is difficult due to the rugged hilly terrain, while the strong wind makes extinguishing the flames even more difficult. The action to put out the fire has also been joined by the residents of the area who are coming to the aid of the firefighting forces, using circumstantial means.
