At the Ministry of Finance, the first phase of the reconciliation of state budget funds, foreign loans and private donations, used to cover the damages caused by the earthquake of November 26, 2019 in Durrës, Tirana, Krujë, Laç and Lezhë, has been completed.
On that day of tragedy, solidarity was manifested within the country, from Kosovo and the diaspora, who brought numerous material aids, but Prime Minister Edi Rama made this public appeal: - Don't send us any more pasta, juices and blankets, but only monetary value"; and on the same day, the government published 24 account numbers in Lek, Euro and USD in 8 banks.
Citizens and immigrants, as much as they could, started donating monetary values, among them 14 well-known businessmen donated 6.5 million Euros, while in total, the government reported that converted into Euros, nearly 11 million Euros were collected.
These monetary values were deposited in 8 private banks, as separate accounts outside the State Budget, for which, Babloku said, they would be used as emergency shelter and food in Thumana and Durrës, which were the most damaged areas, with many homeless people. and 52 victims.
For the administration of solidarity donations, on November 29, 2019, Babloku created the "Interministerial Committee for the Management of the Consequences of the Earthquake", while the "Commander Plenipotentiary" of this committee appointed Bledar Çuçin, at that time the Minister of Agriculture.
When he introduced him as "Commander", Babloku addressed Bledar Çuçi with these words: Every request and problem that will be made by ministers, deputies and mayors, and every penny that donors will donate to the bank accounts, will be administered only by you, or by those authorized by you".
So, only the "Commander All-Powerful" minister appointed by "Babloku" had the right to carry out banking operations and approval of expenses, with 11 million Euros of donations that were collected within 1 month after the earthquake.
Almost 4 years after the earthquake, the Ministry of Finance, in the context of the reconciliation of expenses for the consequences of the earthquake, has found that in the bank accounts of solidarity, nearly 11 million Euros were deposited by citizens and businessmen.
