Pursuant to VKM no. 155, dated March 13, 2023 for the protection of the Vjosa River as a National Park; with the funds of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, Minister Mirela Kumbaro has launched a project for the cleaning and afforestation of the Vjosë river valley.
It has made available officials and tools of the Ministry, the National Agency of Protected Areas and has offered two foreign NGOs "Patagonia" and "IUCN" that are partners of the Ministry for the rehabilitation of the Vjosa River as a National Park.
But Kumbaro, in the Vjosa valley clearing-afforestation project, did not include its length in the territory of the Memaliaj Municipality, from the border with Tepelena to the border with Mallakastra.
The project is being financed by the Albanian Government, while the minister is propagandizing this project as a local "volunteer movement" in order to give millions of Albanian and foreign NGOs with whom she has done shopping to "eat pears" for herself as well. .
She has defined this work calendar: Cleaning and planting of trees and bushes along the Vjosa river in Përmet; on October 18, planting trees along the river in the territory of the Tepelen Municipality, bordering the "Blue Point Petroleum" gas station of the SP deputy, Laert Duraj.
While the length of Vjosa in the territory of the Municipality-Memaliaj, the minister Mirela Kumbaro has not included in the rehabilitation projects, while although the fuel of the deputy of SP, Laert Duraj is far from Vjosa, the surroundings around him are being cleaned and reforested with the funds of the ministry.
The project for the rehabilitation of the Vjosa valley will continue in the part where the territory of the Municipality of Memaliaj is divided with the Municipality of Mallakastra; while Minister Kumbaro has not given any explanation to the mayor of Memaliaj, Albert Malaj, about this exclusion from the project.
