A powerful earthquake tremor was recorded in the early hours of Monday morning in Italy, causing people to panic in the streets.
The magnitude 5.1 earthquake had its epicenter in the area of Marradi in Fiorentino, as it was felt in Florence and throughout Tuscany, where it was followed by some lighter aftershocks.
Fortunately, no injuries or damages were reported from the earthquake, as the authorities went out to assist people.
The earthquake was felt throughout Tuscany and neighboring regions, including Emilia-Romagna and Marche. With the same epicenter, seismographs recorded another shock of magnitude 3.3 at 04.38 and then another 8 shocks of magnitude between 2 and 3, again in the Apennines, in Marradi or nearby Tredozio (Forlì Cesena).
After the strong earthquake, the mayor of Marradi (Florence), Tommaso Triberti, decided to close the schools as a precaution. The earthquake strikes, it is further clarified, "scared the population of Marradi who took to the streets. The municipal operational center was activated. The Civil Protection Chamber of the Metropolitan City of Florence, which is monitoring the situation, has currently received no reports of property damage and people".
