A gun attack shook Athens on Saturday evening, where a man around 35 years old was killed in the Exarchia neighborhood, one of the most popular areas of the Greek capital.
The incident occurred at around 9:00 PM at the intersection of Kallidromiou and Emmanouil Benaki streets, near the famous Exarchia steps. Residents in the area reported hearing several shots, and a short while later the victim was found lying on the ground, covered in blood.
According to initial information, the victim is a foreign citizen, possibly of Arab origin.
Numerous police forces, emergency teams, and forensic experts arrived at the scene, who immediately launched investigations.
Preliminary reports indicate that the 35-year-old was hit by at least five bullets, including one in the head. Several shell casings were also found in the area, and authorities are working to determine their exact number.
Police are questioning witnesses and examining all investigative leads. According to information circulating in the Greek media, without official confirmation, the incident may be related to drug trafficking or settling scores between criminal groups.
The area remains isolated, while the operation to identify and arrest the perpetrators is underway.
