Iranian state media reports that the date of the funeral ceremony for the late Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, has been set.
Khamenei was killed by a joint US-Israeli airstrike on his compound in Tehran on February 28, the first day of the war, SkyNews reports.
The funeral ceremony will begin in the capital on July 4, while the burial will take place on July 9 in the northeastern city of Mashhad.
Khamenei's death marked the end of more than three decades at the helm of the Islamic Republic. He was succeeded by his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not been seen or heard from in public since taking office. Some reports have claimed that the new leader is seriously injured and unable to speak.
This claim was also supported by US President Donald Trump, who declared earlier this month that Khamenei was "very seriously injured".
Trump said he considers Iran's new leadership to be "more rational and very smart." However, he added that he has not spoken directly with Iran's new supreme leader, whom he described as "younger and more rational."
