"72 hours to stockpile food", Orban reacts harshly to the EU's

The EU has urged its citizens to stockpile as much food and essential supplies as possible to keep them safe for at least 72 hours if a war crisis occurs. The warning was issued by the European Commission.

Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, has reacted sharply to the EU's call, saying that Brussels is preparing for war and the calls should be taken seriously.

"Let's try to understand why they are doing this. I see that Brussels is preparing for war. So this should be taken seriously," he said.

The EU wants every member state to prepare survival kits so that citizens can face any new crisis that may arise as part of its preparedness strategy, which also calls for creating a larger stockpile of essential supplies and improving civil-military cooperation.

Orban condemned the plans in his weekly address to national radio. The Hungarian leader said he did not think Europe was threatened by war from outside and that the fighting in Ukraine would not reach Budapest, Warsaw or the Baltic states because no one would attack a NATO country.

"It seems ridiculous now, that Brussels is sending a message to all European families to have enough food at home for 72 hours, but if you look behind it, it's very scary when you see what these people have in mind. Are they doing anything?" he asked.

The Prime Minister added that if someone is preparing for war, this means they are preparing for combat actions.
