The second day of US-brokered talks between Israeli and Lebanese representatives is underway today, in an effort to end the war and stabilize the fragile ceasefire on Lebanon's southern border.

According to the US State Department, this is the third meeting between the parties since Israel intensified its airstrikes on Lebanon. The attacks escalated after Hezbollah rocket attacks on Israel on March 2, just three days after the start of the war between Israel and Iran.

A ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, reached on April 16, has been repeatedly violated by isolated attacks from both sides. The ceasefire is set to expire on Sunday, adding to the pressure on ongoing talks. A senior Lebanese official told Reuters on Thursday that in face-to-face talks, Lebanon will demand that Israel immediately stop all attacks on Lebanese territory.

Meanwhile, an Israeli government spokesman confirmed that talks are continuing with the main objective: disarming Hezbollah and reaching a long-term peace agreement.
