Accusations from Switzerland, who is the "princess" being prosecuted

Gulnara Karimova, the daughter of former Uzbek dictator Islam Karimov, is being prosecuted by Swiss authorities as the head of an international criminal organization. This organization allegedly laundered hundreds of millions of dollars.

According to the Financial Times, Karimova, also known as the "Princess of Uzbekistan", is accused of stealing hundreds of millions from her country and bribing business leaders and government officials around the world.

The new charges against the 51-year-old, who has been in prison in Uzbekistan since 2019, were filed on Thursday by Swiss authorities.

In particular, Karimova is accused of running a "criminal syndicate" that used various companies and bank accounts in Switzerland to launder money.

According to the Times, the criminal organization run by the former UN diplomat was called "The Bureau" and included more than 100 legitimate companies that worked in secret to hide the stolen money and make its members richer.

Karimova enjoyed diplomatic immunity for years and traveled the world, living a lavish lifestyle and having affairs with famous people.

The focus of the criminal organization, which began operating in 2005, is said to have been a Swiss company called Zeromax, which was closed in 2010.

Karimova, who initially started her career as a fashion designer, is said to have used vaults at the private Swiss bank Lombard Odier to hide diamonds and other precious stones.

In addition, more than 400 million francs (about 440 million dollars) are still "frozen" in bank accounts in Karimova's name.

Meanwhile, "Princesha" denies the accusations against her.
