A serious incident has been reported at the Barakah nuclear power plant in Abu Dhabi. International media are reporting that a drone attack caused a fire in one of the power equipment outside the facility's internal area.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reacted after the event, expressing "deep concern" and warning that any military action that violates the security of nuclear power plants poses a serious risk.
The agency announced that radiation levels are normal and that no leaks or threats to public safety have been detected so far.
Abu Dhabi authorities confirmed that the fire was recorded in an electrical generator located outside the main perimeter of the plant, while no injuries were reported.
The event has reignited international concerns about the security of nuclear infrastructure at a time of tensions and drone attacks in the region.
