American politicians and Iranian-American activists support Maryam Rajavi's Ten-Point Plan for a secular and democratic Iran
Thousands of Iranian-Americans, human rights activists and prominent American political figures gathered in Washington, D.C., for the “Rally for a Free Iran,” a demonstration organized in support of the Iranian opposition and calls for regime change in Iran. The event became a political platform against the clerical regime in Tehran, with speakers declaring that the Iranian authorities are facing their most serious crisis in decades.
The rally in Washington aimed to present the Iranian opposition as an organized and internationally supported political alternative. Organizers stated that domestic resistance in Iran, combined with international solidarity, is creating the conditions for the end of the current regime.
Iranian authorities consider opposition groups to be organizations hostile to the state and have repeatedly accused the NCRI and the PMOI/MEK of destabilizing activities.
According to organizers and participants, the economic situation in Iran, social discontent, and increasing state repression have created an unstable political climate. Speakers condemned the use of executions and arrests against political opponents and called for greater international support for Iranian opposition movements.
One of the main messages of the rally was the rejection of two alternatives that, according to the participants, do not represent the future of Iran: the current theocratic regime and the restoration of the monarchy overthrown in 1979. Instead, the organizers promoted the Ten-Point Plan of Maryam Rajavi, the elected president of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), as a model for the creation of a democratic, secular and pluralistic republic.
Maryam Rajavi: The regime is in a "terminal impasse"
In a speech broadcast during the event, Maryam Rajavi declared that the Iranian regime is in a “terminal impasse” following the nationwide protests and unrest in Iran in recent months. According to her, Iranian authorities are using increasingly harsh measures to control the situation, including internet shutdowns, arbitrary arrests and public executions.
Rajavi argued that peace and stability in the Middle East cannot be achieved as long as the “Velayat-e Fakih” system remains in power. She said the regime is trying to survive through fear and repression, while opposition movements within Iran are gaining increasing support.

Në fjalimin e saj, Rajavi kritikoi politikat perëndimore të dialogut dhe pajtimit me Teheranin, duke argumentuar se ato kanë ndihmuar regjimin të mbijetojë politikisht. Ajo i bëri thirrje komunitetit ndërkombëtar që të izolojë autoritetet iraniane dhe të shpallë Gardën Revolucionare Islamike (IRGC) organizatë terroriste.

Ajo theksoi se protestuesit në Iran refuzojnë njëkohësisht regjimin aktual dhe rikthimin e monarkisë, duke kërkuar një republikë demokratike me institucione pluraliste dhe të drejta të barabarta për gratë dhe burrat.

Ish-kongresmeni Patrick J. Kennedy deklaroi se regjimet që ndihen të sigurta në pushtet nuk ekzekutojnë të burgosur politikë dhe profesionistë civilë. Sipas tij, ekzekutimet e fundit tregojnë frikën e autoriteteve iraniane nga një kryengritje tjetër popullore.
Kennedy also praised the activity of the “Resistance Units” in various cities of Iran and argued that the PMOI/MEK has gained legitimacy through its continued opposition to the Shah’s dictatorship and the current Islamic regime. He described the Ten-Point Plan as a concrete platform for democracy, free elections, and an independent judiciary.

Former US ambassador to Denmark, Carla Sands, criticized Western policies toward Iran and said the Iranian opposition has been marginalized for years by diplomatic approaches to Tehran. She described the NCRI as a credible democratic alternative and criticized monarchist groups for glorifying the repressive structures of the Shah's era.
Retired General Wesley K. Clark stated that lasting change in Iran cannot be achieved through military pressure alone, but must come from the Iranian people themselves and the organized resistance within the country.
Meanwhile, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, in a video message broadcast during the event, declared that the fall of the Iranian regime is “a matter of time.” He described Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan as a constitutional framework for a democratic transition in Iran.
