The plane's cargo was undeclared, while the flight route raised suspicions among authorities...
A refueling stop for a Ukrainian plane ended with its temporary detention in Trinidad and Tobago after authorities discovered undeclared explosives on board.
According to Arab News, the plane had arrived from the Bahamas and landed on May 14 at Piarco International Airport, in the capital Port of Spain, to refuel.
He was then expected to continue his flight to Libya via Cape Verde. It was this unusual itinerary that attracted attention and raised suspicions among local law enforcement authorities.
The Trinidad and Tobago Airports Authority stated that immigration officials, upon the arrival of the aircraft, determined the presence of explosive materials on board, which had not been declared according to international aviation and security protocols.
After completing the inspection, authorities concluded that the pilot and crew should not be held responsible for any procedural violations. As a result, the plane was officially cleared to take off again.
